For nature lovers we will explore the National Park of “Blue Eye” – an attractive tourist place, located in the village of Muzinë, near the national road Delvinë – Gjirokastër. It’s a very picturesque area, and has been declared a Natural Monument, with an oval shape similar to the shape of an eye.
The charming old town of Gjirokastra has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2005. Gjirokastra’s castle is one of the biggest in the Balkans. It is situated on the hilltop overlooking the town, witnessing the history of the whole region across the centuries. The date for building this fortification is still unclear. According to archaeologists, the place had been inhabited since IV-V century. old town of Gjirokastra, mainly medieval, with a beautiful architecture to admire, reflecting the city's rich past, it is built on a hill with view of the Drino valley and the mountains. This interesting town will give a good impression of the way of life in Albania during the Ottoman period. We will have lunch at one of the local restaurants in the old market area, where you can taste some specialties of the area. On the way to Saranda, we will pass by Blue Eye national park. In this quiet park we will walk towards the crystal source called Syri i Kaltër in albanian, where 5m³/sec comes from the depth of the earth and with a temperature of 10°. If time permits, there will be a short coffee break at the park's riverside restaurant before departure to the Saranda & Ksamil.
